2014 Chevy Impala vs. 2013 Toyota Avalon
Last month we announced the arrival of the 2014 Chevy Impala in Naperville to the Chevrolet of Naperville showroom. We have discussed its features, of which there are many. We have educated you about the Impala’s history, it is impressive. We have droned on and on about its performance, it is awesome. Now it is time to put the 2014 Chevy Impala to work and let it start taking down its competition one car at a time. The first challenger the new Chevrolet flagship will take on is a newly redesigned offering from Toyota. In this blog we will compare side by side the 2014 Chevy Impala vs. the 2013 Toyota Avalon.
Starting off with the engines that power these two cars, in the battle of the 2014 Chevy Impala vs. the 2013 Toyota Avalon, the new Impala starts out to a strong lead. First, the new Chevy Impala has two engine options for you to choose from right away with a third coming later this year. The base model of the 2014 Chevy Impala is a very efficient 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that produces 195-horsepower and gets 21 miles per gallon in the city and 31 miles per gallon on the highway. The only option Toyota Avalon buys have is a 3.5-liter, V-6 that gives you plenty of power with 268-hp at your disposal and it gets the same Environmental Protection Agency fuel estimate as the base engine of the new Impala. The Impala is not about to be left behind.
For those looking for a bit more performance out of the new Impala, there is an option at the higher trims for a 3.6-liter, V-6, that will make a blistering 305-horsepower and still get up to 29 miles per gallon on the open highway. The third engine model will be an interesting offering. Later this year, Chevrolet will produce a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder with 182-hp; but also will have the added benefit of having a powerful electric motor that will push the EPA fuel-estimate for this engine to 25 mpg (city) and 35 mpg (highway).
In the final round of the 2014 Chevy Impala vs. the 2013 Toyota Avalon, the new Chevy sedan gets the knockout with a simple price comparison. Obviously, as you go up the trim ladder, you will see better interiors and more available options and accessories. Each of the cars has an almost identical list. All the big ones are present like power windows and locks, tilt and telescoping steering and a very easily adjustable power driver’s seat. Although the new Impala has a manufacturers’ suggested retail price that comes in thousands of dollars less than the Avalon for a very similar product.
